Intro.
My name is Gayla Zoz and you are listening to Simple Marketing Academy Podcast
Episode #1.
It's so exciting to be launching a podcast about marketing, sharing what I've
learned, helping everyone build their businesses and make lots of moneeeeyyyy.
What's this podcast all about? It's really very simple. Our focus is on what you
need to know and do in order to be successful.
Lots of the topics I'll be covering are complicated, but my goal is to break things
down and make them easy. That's why each podcast will be short. And it will
cover something basic.
The fundamentals. That's what we're all about here at the Simple Marketing
Academy. It's what I've been helping my clients master for the last 20 years.
One of the most important marketing fundamentals is to know your audience. To
know who you're trying to reach.
You're one of my people if you're dreaming of starting a small business, and, in
your dreams, you're flying by the seat of your pants when it comes to marketing.
You're one of my people if you've already launched a small business and you're
flying by the seat of your pants when it comes to marketing.
You've one of my people if you've been moved into marketing role in a business '
and you've never done marketing before'and you're flying by the seat of your
pants.
You can see that the common denominator here is flying by the seat of your
pants.
You could also one of my people if you're running a small busines and want to
sense check where you are, what you're doing, and what kind of results you're
getting. You may not be flying by the seat of your pants, but you're open to the
possibility that there are basics that you could be doing better or differently.
Or maybe you've been open for awhile and the initial surge of leads has tapered
off. The phone isn't ringing as much as it once did and you're looking around
wondering why.
This podcast is for you, too.
Here's the bottom line. Everything is easier when you understand the basics.
That's our focus here on the Simple Marketing Academy podcast.
So'How will the podcast be organized?
Different types of episodes will cover different ground.
There's what I call Gayla's Two Cents. In these episodes, I will be flying solo,
offering my take on something. It could be a marketing method, a fad, or a trend.
It could be a rant. It could be anything.
Another type of episode is what I'm calling Marketing 101. In these episodes, I'll
be interviewing people I know who offer marketing-related products and services.
The goal isn't for them to sell you things. The goal is for you to learn the basics of
what they offer, how to be a smart buyer of those services, and how those
services may or may not be the right fit for your business.
The third type of episode is what I'm calling Rookie Mistakes. I'll be talking about
the most common screw-ups, land mines, disasters, and pitfalls that I've seen in
my 20 or so years of working as a marketing consultant. I could do a thousand
episodes on this topic!
And then we'll have episodes dedicated to the experiences of people out there in
the field. I'm calling this the Industry Focus series and you'll be hearing from
business owners and people who are actually responsible for marketing in small
businesses. They may be in a different industry than the one you're in, but their
experiences will help you understand more about the most important marketing
basics.
And then there's Marketing Rehab. That's where you get to submit brand
elements like logos, copy, and taglines to be overhauled'for free. Watch the
Simple Marketing Academy social channels for details on how to participate.
And finally, there's listener questions. These episodes will be devoted entirely to
answering questions I'm hearing from podcast listeners. No marketing-related
topic is off limits. If you want to submit a question, drop me a line at
[email protected] or direct message me on one of The Simple
Marketing Academy's social channels. Who knows what can come out of listener
questions? You could end up on the podcast because of it. It's entirely possible.
That's it for this week's episode of the Simple Marketing Academy podcast. I'll
catch you next time.
